Cover your clients' check fees using a separate payment method

Check fees are automatically taken from the same payment method used to pay your clients bills. It's easy to change your settings so that check fees are paid using a separate payment method. 

In this article we’ll show you how to:

1. Add a separate payment method for check fees
2. Edit clients, remove or change the payment method for check fees
3. View billing statement
4. See what your clients will see

 

Add a separate payment method for check fees

1. Select Settings from the left sidebar and click Billing. 

2. In the box Pay paper check fees separately, click Add method.

3. Choose an existing payment method or add a new credit card, debit card, or bank account. Click Save.

4.Select which clients check fees are covered. Click Save.

Note: Skip choosing clients

If you click Skip, none of the clients are chosen and you can select them later.

5. Your payment method will now be used to deduct all check fees until changed or removed.

Edit clients, remove or change the payment method for check fees

1. Select Settings from the left sidebar and click Billing.

2. Under Payment method for check fees, click the three dots next to the payment method and see three choices: 

a. Change payment method.

b. Edit clients.

c. Remove payment method.

a. Select Change payment method to choose a new payment method.

b. Select Remove payment method to delete this funding source. Click Remove to confirm that check fees will now be deducted from the same payment method used to pay the bill.

c. Select Edit clients to go back to the screen for selecting clients.

View billing statement

You can easily view your statement to see the check fee’s you’ve covered for each of your clients.


1. In Billing, under Transaction fee history, click to download the month you want to see.

2. Your statement will have a section for each client.

What your clients will see

Your clients will be able to see that the check fees are covered by their accountant.
