How to handle unsuccessful payments

There are several reasons payments could fail. Some could be related to the bank account or credit card you’re using, while others could stem from issues with your vendor’s bank account.

Potential issues with your payment method and how to resolve them:

Credit card Payment exceeds the withdrawal limit The card has reached its limit. Add funds or choose a different payment method to reschedule.  61 Exceeds Maximum Permissible Entry 
Credit card Insufficient funds The card has reached its limit.  Add funds or choose a different payment method to reschedule.  183 Insufficient Funds
ACH Insufficient funds The account has insufficient funds for this payment. Add funds or choose a different payment method to reschedule.  R01 Insufficient Funds
ACH Uncollected funds The account has insufficient funds. Add funds or choose a different payment method to reschedule.  R09 Uncollected Funds
ACH Unauthorized transaction Payment on hold due to unauthorized bank account. Choose a different payment method or contact bank to authorize and reschedule.  R10 Customer Advises Not Authorized
ACH Account frozen This funding source seems to be frozen. Choose a different payment method to reschedule.  R16 Account Frozen
ACH Unauthorized transaction Unauthorized transaction Choose a different payment method or ask your bank to remove the block. R29 Corporate Customer Advises Not Authorized.

Payment Stopped This payment has been stopped by your bank. Kindly reach out to paymentoperations@melio.com to resolve this issue. R08 Payment Stopped
Invalid ACH Routing Number The vendor's routing number is incorrect. Change the delivery method or update the vendor details. R13 Invalid ACH Routing Number
Invalid Account Number The current delivery method is unable to receive payments. Change the delivery method or update the vendor details. R20 Invalid Account Number
Credit Entry Refused by Receiver Payment was declined by the recipient. Reach out to your vendor to resolve this issue. R23 Credit Entry Refused by Receiver
